Where Bones Take Root is an immersive theatrical experience posted to you and designed to experience from your bed.
The work explores the connections between chronic illness, the natural world, and the unseen systems that sustain life. Taking inspiration from connective tissue disease (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) and mycelial networks, the project asks how bodies – human and non-human – adapt, communicate, and hold one another in webs of resilience.
Blending storytelling, immersive technologies, and sensory design, Where Bones Take Root aims to create experiences that bring nature into spaces where it is often inaccessible, particularly for housebound and disabled communities. At its heart, the project is about reimagining illness not only as limitation but also as a different way of sensing, pacing, and belonging in the world.
Currently in its early stages of development, the project will grow through collaboration with artists, scientists, and audiences. Please get in touch if you’d like to collaborate.
