Lisa Franklin is an artist & creative producer based in Sheffield, UK.
My practice is rooted in play.
It investigates cross-species collaboration (with a focus on fungi and flora) and on connecting beings through creativity.
My work invites audience to reconsider their position within the natural world, as opposed to existing alongside it and considers the ‘more than human’ as collaborator, not resource.
Working at the intersection of chronic illness, natural world and the arts, my current project in development is: Where Bones Take Root – a postal immersive theatrical experience designed to be experienced from your bed.
I have been long interested in sustainability, food growing & food sovereignty and feel passionately about working towards a more accessible, inclusive & democratic arts sector & world.
My work so far has been varied and eclectic but always with connection, community and respectful stewardship at its heart.
Recent works include commissions for BBC Contains Strong Language & Theatre Absolute, facilitating People’s Assemblies with Culture Declares Emergency, Southbank Centre & Birmingham Rep, projects with Royal Shakespeare Company, Midlands Art Centre, Talking Birds, Ludic Rooms and artist residencies with Improbable and Appetite.
If you’d like to support the development of future work, contributions are very welcome and will go directly towards funding future project’s growth.
